Aspiration Digital was an event which confirmed my passion for going into a career in marketing as well as giving me key skills with how to get there. Before the event, I didn’t know what LinkedIn was and how important it was in developing connections which have enabled me to get placements and stand out in applications I send off for my next path after Year 13. As well as connections through LinkedIn, on the day, I met inspiring people who did talks and represented stalls that were willing to speak to everyone and share their pathways and advice for how to reach success. This wasn’t just inspiring but also really informative. One of the main challenges I’ve been facing in sixth form is what pathway to follow, the main two being: university or an apprenticeship. There was a discussion between people who had done both pathways and they shared their own experiences and advice to help us make our decision.

Aspiration Digital made me realise how many different jobs are available in the digital industry and opened my eyes to the number of opportunities available in the future. The breaks gave me the chance to go and chat with professionals from various companies about careers in digital which was really helpful, and I managed to win a weeks worth of work experience too!

Aspiration Digital was a massive eye-opener, even for me I have to say. It gave our students the opportunity to hear from professional people about an aspect of the industry that perhaps they hadn't considered before. It was great for us, we had students attending from several of our sixth form courses of different disciplines, and all of those students had something that they could take away that was inspiring.

Aspiration Digital was a really fun, information-packed event and I found it incredibly beneficial. It gave me an insight into how an agency works and how many different careers there actually are in the digital marketing industry. The one-day conference was a real eye-opener and the talks really explained how the digital world is an exciting place to work. Digital careers are not spoken about much in school, so listening to Becky Simms (CEO & Founder of Reflect Digital) and Mark Gaisford (Founder & MD of Redsprout) really inspired my friends and I to explore the opportunities in digital marketing, and consider potentially going into this as a career.

The Aspiration Digital Conference was absolutely pivotal in inspiring my students about their future; as a direct result of this some of them are now going on to University or employment to pursue their passions in this industry.
It helped bring what we do in the classroom to life; the addition of local companies, universities and experts brought a realistic approach that I really value as a Head of Department.

The Aspiration Digital Event was a crucial turning point in my vision of working in computer science one day. This event showed me the scope of possibilities within computer science/digital in the workplace. One spokesperson in particular stood out to me. His name is Danny from the company Digital Detox, which is a digital engineering company that focuses on health and sciences among many other things. A key memory from this event was when he told me about all the projects his company was involved in. This conversation about the overlap with health and technology, sparked an interest in me. And now I am passionate about one day working in an AI industry which predominantly focuses on physical and mental health. I am so grateful to have attended this event as it showed me the possibilities of working in technology which I never knew about.

It was an eye opener for me and I am now thinking about my future and what digital related degrees and careers there are for me. I really enjoyed listening to the inspirational speakers and their journeys to where they are today.
ERIN, STUDENT AT CORNWALLIS ACADEMY
The most important thing I learned on Thursday was that most of the people who were talking did not know what they wanted to do when they were my age, but they kept trying different job opportunities until they found something they enjoyed, with some of them never knowing that they were going to work in the digital world.
