ABOUT ASPIRATION DIGITAL

Aspiration Digital is a one-day digital skills conference created to educate students about the wide range of roles within the digital industry and the diverse career paths available. It’s an ideal experience for those studying media, business, computing, IT, or marketing.

How Aspiration Digital Made a Difference

Aspiration Digital was an event which confirmed my passion for going into a career in marketing as well as giving me key skills with how to get there. Before the event, I didn’t know what LinkedIn was and how important it was in developing connections which have enabled me to get placements and stand out in applications I send off for my next path after Year 13. As well as connections through LinkedIn, on the day, I met inspiring people who did talks and represented stalls that were willing to speak to everyone and share their pathways and advice for how to reach success. This wasn’t just inspiring but also really informative. One of the main challenges I’ve been facing in sixth form is what pathway to follow, the main two being: university or an apprenticeship. There was a discussion between people who had done both pathways and they shared their own experiences and advice to help us make our decision.

The Aspiration Digital Event was a crucial turning point in my vision of working in computer science one day. This event showed me the scope of possibilities within computer science/digital in the workplace. One spokesperson in particular stood out to me. His name is Danny from the company Digital Detox, which is a digital engineering company that focuses on health and sciences among many other things. A key memory from this event was when he told me about all the projects his company was involved in. This conversation about the overlap with health and technology, sparked an interest in me. And now I am passionate about one day working in an AI industry which predominantly focuses on physical and mental health. I am so grateful to have attended this event as it showed me the possibilities of working in technology which I never knew about.
